I have read most of your blog and salute the focused energy you have put into it.

Your writing is very clear and precise and quasi-academic in style. You could probably teach a course on good journalism.

Between your passion for the subject of wine, your knowledge, and the clarity of your writing, you might consider contributing articles to local magazines or newspapers of the Hudson Valley or Long Island. As you probably know, The New York Times has a Long Island section that goes to that region.

(It seems like the Hudson Valley now has a clutch of magazines devoted to food/arts/lifestyle. The Hudson Valley "locavore" movement, whose attention includes local wine, seems as fervent as anywhere in the Eastern US. And you've got a great "base camp" from which to operate.)

Such publications may give you more a broader, more established platform from which to contribute. And as you know, more and more publications now have digital editions. If you were to come up with an intriguing idea for an article, I bet an editor would say "go for it" even if it was on spec.

I just read your article containing your interview with Ms. Hargrave. Very nicely done, sir. In your writing you have a wonderful ability to replicate for your reader the pleasure of speaking with you personally. I continue to admire your scholarship and your prose. Please accept my humble admiration as encouragement to continue your great work.

I also recently read The Vineyard, though I had a hard time finding a copy. I eventually found one that had been taken out of circulation from a library in my former home state of Washington. I got the impression from reading the book that Ms. Hargrave is a real pistol, and from reading your personal observations, I gather you concur.

I'm glad you finally posted the next in the series after four months. I always enjoy reading your blog; and without fail learn something new each time. I've been to many of the East End vineyards over the last decade, and it is nice to have a professional view which can also be appreciated by a lay person.
Your passion for wine (and the intricacies involved in its production) are so clearly evident in your writing; which makes your blog a pleasure to read and indulge in.

We'd like to thank your for a great article outlining our approach to farming and treatment of our estate. We are all firm believers that more natural methods of farming will ultimately yield better fruit, and in turn quality wines. Hope to read more about LI viticulture and hope to see you in our tasting room!
